Welcome to the UKIEUS website – the official website for the endoscopic ultrasound community in the UK & Ireland. UKIEUS has been promoting teaching, training and research in endoscopic ultrasound since its inception in 1998.
The first annual meeting was organised in 1999 by Dr. Ashley Roberts (although informal meetings had occurred annually from 1996, see our history section). Since then EUS has seen an exponential leap change in its role as both a diagnostic and therapeutic modality for various GI diseases. The significant change in the last decade has seen EUS move from being another diagnostic investigation to a vital and irreplaceable test in benign and cancer GI multidisciplinary teams across the country.

BECOME A MEMBER OF THE UKIEUS
We look forward to welcoming new members to our society as we move through 2020 and beyond.
Please visit our education and research section, which we aim to constantly update and develop a database which will be useful to both the trainee and experienced endosonographers. UKIEUS is affiliated to the EGEUS as a national chapter.
UGI Congress 2021 from the 13 – 15 October.
It is exciting that we have taken the bold decision to go ahead with UGI Congress 2021 in Belfast in October. We are confident that this is the correct call and get the impression from members of all the societies that a face-to-face meeting will be well supported. We all welcome the idea of meeting up with friends and colleagues for a chat and a drink.
UKIEUS, AUGIS/GBIHPBA & Pancreatic Society all need your support and commitment to this meeting. However, we need early commitment and registration. There will be an early bird rate until end of August and then a set of final rates until end of September. There will be no registration after 30th September.
The Congress will be available as a virtual package as well as face to face. The virtual package will include live streaming as well as access to prerecorded lectures, and will cost the same as face to face registration. Clearly, if the meeting has to be cancelled, which we think is highly unlikely; all registered will have access to the virtual package.
Visit Belfast, The Assembly Rooms, The Europa and the hotels and restaurants are all committed to all the guidelines for a safe Conference. There are over 15 other meetings scheduled for these venues before Christmas.
The programme is attached and is also available on the UKIEUS website - www.ukieus.co.uk
Booking will open shortly, I'll let you know when you can reserve your place, in the meantime please encourage all your team members to get involved, send in your abstracts and start making plans for an exciting and fantastic Congress.
