COVID-19: It's impact on EUS and Endoscopy

Dear Colleagues

We are now entering the ‘rebuild’ phase set out by our Government. To rebuild our economy, mental and physical health, in a way that is safe and continues to protect our NHS.

We are all working to rebuild our services hit by what is now names ‘COVID-19’,an unknown and remorseless foe. In this phase, it is apt to remind ourselves of the heavy price paid in terms of mortality and morbidity across the world. The NHS , Social Care and other Key Workers, have stepped up extraordinarily to face these challenges head on and consequently our elective activity has significantly reduced.

BSG and many other national and international societies have been very supportive with timely guidance on emergency activities and now on ‘restarting’ and ‘rebuilding’ our capacity and semblance of managing demand with pragmatic and evidence based guidelines.

Myself and Manu, in the meantime have been working in the background to build a more accurate picture of the EUS service, training and its expansion across the UK and Ireland regions. We have made many modifications to our communication lines with our current members and the wider EUS community. You would see us on popular platforms engaging with a much wider audience, and help build the EUS network. We will also be working to improve the education content across various platforms and we welcome suggestions, novel ideas and corrections where appropriate!

We look forward to hearing from you. Please contact us via the links on our website or other social media platforms.

Dear Colleagues
We are now approaching the change in the seasons and also time to look forward to exciting changes in the UK and Ireland EUS scene. As you are all aware, we have our annual EUS meeting (previously called the EUS User’s group meeting- some of you will remember!) on 26th and 27th of September at the Magdelene College in Cambridge. The event looks absolutely packed with excellent content and the delegates will surely find this a very interesting and educational meeting indeed. Kudos to Nick Carroll, Manu Nayar and the team for all the hard work.
As the visitors to our website can see, we have a new look to the whole website and hopefully this is both pleasing to the eyes and also user friendly. We will be updating many of the sections within the website over the next weeks and months, so please look out for this.
Don’t forget to follow us on twitter at #ukieus @ukeussociety and the September meeting on #ukieus2019, and also our facebook page.
Look forward to seeing you all in Cambridge.
